Obituary of Wayne Terry Fujinaga

Wayne Terry Fujinaga (1956 – 2018) passed away on November 27, 2018 at St Alphonsus Hospital in Ontario, Oregon at the age of 62. He was born June 2, 1956 in Ontario, Oregon to Sakae and Akiko Fujinaga. Upon graduation from Ontario High School in 1976 he attended Treasure Valley Community College. Wayne moved to Portland, Oregon in 1979 where he spent nine years living and working in various programs for the developmentally disabled. He worked several different jobs, and despite his many physical and mental disabilities held a strong desire to live and work independently. He ventured out from those programs lived on his own for many of those years. Wayne continued to explore all that Portland had to offer and enjoyed his years living there, often referring to them as the best years of his life. He moved back to Ontario in 1988 where he mainly worked for Witco and carried forward his passion for the developmentally disabled living independently by serving on the Board of Directors at the Eastern Oregon Center for Independent Living. He enjoyed watching movies, eating out, going to Walmart and spending time with his many nieces and nephew telling funny stories of growing up with his brothers and sisters. He had a great love for animals and an amazingly generous spirit towards all those that he loved. He is survived by his two sisters Jean (Kevin) Miyasako of Caldwell, Idaho and Susan Fujinaga, and brother Jon Fujinaga both of Eagle, Idaho. Nieces Erica (Gordon Barker) Miyasako, KC (Ben) Mosley, Allison Fujinaga, and Jessica Fujinaga and Nephew Kyle Miyasako. He was preceded in death by his father Sakae Fujinaga, mother Akiko Fujinaga, and brother Glen Fujinaga. The family would like to thank the Nurses and staff of St Alphonsus Hospital in Ontario and especially Dr Paul Gering for the great care they provided. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choosing in Wayne’s honor. Arrangements by Lienkaemper Chapel, Ontario.
