Vera was a delightful, warm and generous woman who I have had the pleasure of knowing since her oldest son, Jeff, and I became life partners more than 20 years ago. She was a lovely storyteller, through her writing and clearly treasured her fascination with pioneering and Native Americans. A gentle, yet stoic and tough, woman of good humor with whom I shared a few hearty laughs. Vera was the only person I know that could make a pie equal to my own Mom’s – and that was no little feat! We missed her sorely when she left Seattle and relocated to Vale. I’ll always remember her fondly! I know that Jeff is eternally grateful to have had her for his Mom and that she enjoyed a generally healthy, long life. Happy remembrances to all those who loved and treated her well, as she did them.
