Obituary of May Anderson

May Miller Anderson of Nyssa died on October 8th in Walla Walla, Wash. She was born on July 25, 1917 at Green City. Missouri, the daughter of Edra and Mary Katherine Cornmesser-Miller. At age 3 the family moved to the Bridgeport Nebraska area. She attended school in Bridgeport and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1936. She worked in Bridgeport until 1945 when the family moved to Ontario, Oregon. While working in Ontario, she met her future husband Jack H. Anderson. They were married in 1948 in Winnemucca, Nevada. The couple purchased the Owyhee Drug Co. and a home in Nyssa, Oregon where she resided until her death. In addition to working at the drug store she was a cub scout and girl scout leader. May was a life long member of the Bridgeport chapter of Easter Star as well as the Treasure Valley Quilt Guild. She is survived by son Jim and Lanor Anderson of Pilot Rock, Oregon, sister Mary Georgene and Gene Davis, Sparks, Nevada, brother Walt Miller, Nampa, Idaho, three grandchildren: Victoria and Jason Fenton, Brett and Missy Anderson, and Erica and Dave Maller , eight great grandchildren and family friends Junia Ker, Aurora, Colorado. and Cheryl Courtner of Nyssa. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack H. Anderson, daughter Anna Duke, grandson Scott Duke, sister Pheba McKinley, and brothers Marritt and George Miller. Graveside Services will be held Friday, October 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Hilltop Memorial Cemetery Nyssa. Arrangements and Services by Lienkaemper Chapel, Nyssa.
