Shannon Kelly

Obituary of Shannon Merle Kelly

Shannon Merle Kelly, 56, formerly of Ontario, passed away Saturday January 5, 2019 at Marquis Silver Gardens in Silverton, Oregon.

Shannon was born March 15, 1962, in Ontario, Oregon, the only daughter of Tim Bouscal and Donna Kelly. She moved frequently through her childhood returning every summer to Knudson grandparent’s ranch in Harper, she always felt the ranch was her home.

Shannon Joined the United States Airforce when she was 18, and served proudly for 6 years as an Imagery Analyst. During her time in the service she was blessed by the arrival of her daughter Grace. Following her time in the Airforce Shannon worked various jobs as she raised her daughter. She was married and divorced, but blessed from this relationship by her three sons; Tarin, Tristan, and Tyler.  Shannon loved her children as every mother does, and her life was devoted to nurturing and raising her kids. Now a single mom of four, Shannon knew that to support them she would need a degree. This knowledge drove her to pursue her higher education with a goal of becoming a nurse.

She was very proud of her military service and was an active member of the VFW Ontario, Axillary #5452. She would encourage you to volunteer in your community in whatever touches your heart.

Shannon was inspired by the poem “If I can” by Emily Dickinson. She had a goal to help save someone’s life, and she DID! Shannon graduated and was pinned as a Registered nurse in 2013, earning her Associates of Applied Science Nursing degree. It was not an easy task having to stop for treatment for breast cancer while she was in the nursing program at Treasure Valley Community College, but she was very proud to succeed. She worked as an RN first in an assisted living setting, then at Weiser Hospital, and finally at Pioneer Place Skilled Nursing Facility before cancer changed her path. Shannon loved being a Nurse, she came to work with a smile and gave out compliments easily. She appreciated the team that she worked with and wanted to make sure that everyone from housekeeping, kitchen, management and nursing staff especially the certified nursing assistants knew this.

She is survived by her parents Donna Kelly of Ontario and Tim Bouscal of Ontario; a daughter Grace Kelly (Nick Theis) of Dayton, Ohio; sons Tarin Velock, Tristan Velock and Tyler Velock all of Ontario; and a granddaughter Kaitlyn Theis.
