Obituary of Herbert John Henke

Herbert "John" Henke

John Henke passed away peacefully at his home in Council on February 9, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer and other medical complications. His sister Fran Heil and oldest niece Georgann Muller, have been with him through the end. Along with other family members here and out of town.

John was born on June 20,1953 in Manhatten, New York.  He was a army brat, allowing him to travel and live many places in the U.S. and for 2 years in Germany. He had lived in Council, Idaho for the last 13 and a half years.

John was a loving, generous, caring man with a great sense of humor. He alway's greeted you with a "how you doing, hi sweetie or hi hon".  He completed High School in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  John competed in the special olympics in Colorado and California and won numerous medals for his swimming skills. He was a very gifted and beautiful swimmer.

John was preceded in death by his mother and father in 1996 and his beloved wife Kim. Who passed at the end of 2002.

He is survived by his daughter Michelle and grandson Titus , from Missouri.  Sisters, Helen and Dorothy from S.C., Patricia from GA.  and Frances Heil of Council.  Brothers, George from S.C., and Clifford from CA.  Also, cousins Virginia and John from L.I. N.Y. He has a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

John loved the mountains and his sisters dog Zoey. Which he "always" asked about. He loved that dog. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and never missed a televised game.

As per John's wishes there will not be any services. There will be a celebration of life in the late spring. You were truly loved and will be missed

Rest in peace my brother. You've earned it.
