Obituary of Melanie Beth Stephens

Melanie Beth Stephens, 35, of Payette, Idaho passed away peacefully Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Melanie was born November 21, 1983 in Ontario, Oregon, the daughter of Valerie Webb and Rick Stephens. Melanie spent most her childhood in North Carolina with her family and later moved to Ontario, Oregon where she spent her teenage years and young adult life. Melanie graduated from Ontario High School in 2002. She later went on to attend Treasure Valley Community College.

In 2004, Melanie married Juan Manuel Vazquez. During their 10-year marriage they had two beautiful children Isaiah and Nikkeya Vazquez. Melanie had a very caring and loving heart. For a short time, she provided childcare for Ruben (RJ) and Humberto (Junior). The boys loved their time with her. Shortly after, Melanie went back to work at Treasure Valley Vision center as an optometrist assistant and also in the billing department. In the 10 years she worked there, Melanie always looked forward to seeing her co-workers and clients. Melanie made sure her family and friends became loyal clients as well.

Melanie’s passions included hiking, reading, gardening, birds, traveling, reading and being around those she loved.

She is survived by children; son Isaiah Damien Vazquez and daughter Nikkeya Elizabeth Vazquez of Payette, ID. Parents; Valerie Webb and Jeremy Pederson of Mountain Home, ID. Sister; Stormy Stephens of Seattle, WA. Brother; Kenny Pederson, AK. Grandparents; Frances and Emanuel Gonzales of Ontario, OR. Grandmother; Nancy Stephens, Springfield, OR. Nieces; Amara and Areanna, grandniece; Hayden, Newphews; Dominic, Lalo, and Jaxon; and several other loving relatives and close friends.

A celebration of Melanie’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, at the Lienkaemper Chapel at 78 NW 1^ST Ave, Ontario, Or.
