Obituary of Judy Helen Stubbert

Judy Helen Stubbert, a longtime resident of the town of Nyssa, passed into the hands of God on Friday the 19th of April after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in 1945 in Hillsboro, OR, Judy excelled in administrative assistant roles, which carried her through her professional career and brought her to Nyssa where her talents and skills where fully used and appreciated.

Judy served as a Section 8 Occupancy Specialist for the Oregon State Government for 15 years, working with the community and helping those in need. In this time, her involvement in the community expanded to serving on the board for both the local Eagles and the Nyssa Senior Citizens Center.

Judy, often spoke of her bond and love for her dear friends, notably was the group labeled as the Sunshine Sisters, who met regularly and often congregated at the Sunset Market and Café.

Judy loved good food and socializing, enjoyed Classic Movies and playing Pinochle and Bingo. She was generous to a fault and was commonly known as someone who would step forward to help. This was certainly paid forward as her community of friends supported and cared for her through this process. A special thank you to Kathy Gray for taking Judy in and caring for her through this challenging time. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon Stubbert in 2017 and survived by her three children, Karen Starns, Staci Davis and David Phillips, her four grandchildren, Brenda Starns Johnson, Alaya Starns, Jason Friend and one great grandchild Sage Johnson. Judy was also survived by her three sisters, Shirley Baker, Diane Bender and Joan Wooten. All, she dearly loved.

Judy’s Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held at the Nyssa Senior Citizens Center, 316 Good Ave, Nyssa OR 97913, on May 19 at 2pm. Judy asked that all donations be made, in her name, to the Nyssa Senior Citizens Center.
