Obituary of Christopher Scott Phillips

Christopher Scott Phillips of Ontario, Or. was born June 3, 1977 in LaGrand, Oregon. Chris had a sudden massive heart attack Thursday, June 20, 2019 at home. Chris graduated from Ontario H.S. in 1995, attended TVCC, getting an associate degree, attended Oregon State studying viticulture (growing grapes) and enology (the making of wine) and winding up with a degree from Western Culinary Institute in Portland. He managed a pizza shop, sold real estate, ran a coffee shop and helped his parents run a vineyard and winery in Malheur County, on Sagehill Farm.

Chris loved philosophizing on a variety of subjects, loved people, but had some continuous health problems. He is survived by his parent, Tom and Pat Phillips, the love of his life, Michelle Leija, and her twin girls, Millie and Rayne, and his devoted dog, Mouse.

A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 802 SW. 5th St. Ontario, OR. , Friday, June 28, at 11am. Potluck to follow at the church.
