Obituary of Claude O. Dehnhoff

Claude O. “Denny” Dehnhoff, 96, of Weiser passed away July 11, 2019.  Denny’s parents were Hugo and Loretta Dehnhoff, and he had a younger brother, Clifford.  Denny grew up in Seattle, WA, and in 1940 joined the National Guard.  He was inducted into the service on Sept 16, 1940 at Fort Lewis and honorably discharged on August 23, 1945 also at Fort Lewis.  A little more than a year later, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.  Denny’s Army career then had him stationed primarily in New Guinea.  Denny served his country from September 16, 1940 until August 23, 1945.  He was both inducted and honorably discharged at Fort Lewis. After he returned to the States, Denny lived and worked in Seattle, where he was a cement finisher.  He moved to Weiser in 1985, where he married Roberta Potter.  Denny is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Clifford, and his first wife, Mary.  He is survived by Roberta’s children, Harold Potter of Weiser, Marilyn Tripple of Nampa, and Jackie Schmalmaack of Orange City, FL.  He is also survived by his nephew, Danny Dehnhoff, and Mary’s niece, Suzie Myers of Marysville, WA.  Harold Potter has been Denny’s guardian for the past 15 years, and would like to extend many thanks to the staff at Indianhead Estates Residential Care in Weiser.  A military service and burial is planned for a later date at the Idaho State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boise.
