Viola Dale

Obituary of Viola Marie Dale

Viola Marie (Cada) Dale

August 27, 1923 to September 24, 2020

Viola died peacefully at the age of 97 at her home in the Spring Creek Assisted Living facility on Thursday, September 24, 2020. She was born in Midvale, ID to Antone and Mary Cada, both immigrants from Bohemia (now a region of the Czech Republic). She was the oldest daughter of eight children with six brothers and one sister.

Viola married Wesley Dale on February 2, 1945 and gained a ready-made family of three children: Carol, Joyce, and Shirley. Viola and Wesley added to the family with the birth of their daughter, Marcia, in 1949. The family lived and farmed on a ranch in Midvale, ID.

Viola was a hard worker all her life. She helped her family while at home on South Crane Creek and then worked at a cannery in Payette. After marrying, she worked alongside Wesley on the ranch and as the head cook at the Midvale School cafeteria for many years. She always had a large garden and a full pantry. Family loved to visit to hear her and Wesley’s stories and eat Viola’s good food.

Family was important to Viola. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wesley, her siblings (Tony, Frank, Carl, Rudolph, Emil, Sylvia, and George), and son Carol. She is survived by her daughters Marcia, Joyce, and Shirley, ten grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was a big presence in the family and will be missed by all.

Viola will be interned at the Midvale Eastside Cemetery next to Wesley in a private service. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, to please donate to the charity of your choice.
