Kenneth Bartoschek

Obituary of Kenneth E. Bartoschek

Kenneth Edwin Bartoschek passed away on Friday, October 16, 2020 at his home in Weiser, Idaho.  Ken was born in Weiser on June 8, 1946, to Ed and Joeva Bartoschek of Weiser. Ken attended school in Weiser and grew up helping his father on the family farm. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1967 and married Nancy Mae Hopper from Midvale, Idaho in 1969. They had dairy cows and farmed in the Mann’s Creek and Midvale areas for many years.  Ken was a volunteer firefighter and EMT in Midvale for many of those years. He also was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables, many of which he was eager to enter at the Washington County Fair where he earned numerous awards. He was known for his cooking and baking skills and never failed to provide tasty gifts of candy, quick breads and cookies at Christmas to his family members. Painting pictures was one form of creativity that Ken enjoyed, and he had done several.  One of the other gifts that Ken had was a wonderful bass voice and he used it to enhance choirs at church and in the community. He was an active member of the Upper Country Singers and loved to participate in their concert each holiday season.  High school sports were one of the activities that Ken enjoyed attending.  He could be found in attendance at most local games and was an eager fan.  Nancy and Ken moved to Weiser in 2017, where they lived together until Nancy’s death in June of 2020. They celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2019.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Joeva Bartoschek, his wife of 50 years, Nancy Mae Hopper Bartoschek and a niece, LeAnn Emry.  He is survived by his sister, Darlene (Howard) Emry, and two brothers, Alvin (Ella) and Larry Bartoschek as well as two sisters-in-law, Ann (Walt) Hopper and Sandy (Milton) Hopper. Six nieces and one nephew: Michelle Emry Chappell (Landon), Crystal Bartoschek Wilson (Kyle), Claudia Hopper Erickson, Cindy Hopper Erickson (Carl), Milton Joe Hopper, Jr. (Rena), Eleanor Jane Hopper Bruce and Cori Hopper Ward (Vernon); 18 great nieces and nephews and 28 great-great nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his valued friends whom he considered to be family; John Erickson, and Sam, Cody (Kishaun), Ashley and Brady Edwards.

A memorial service is planned for 10 am on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the Weiser Church of the Nazarene in Weiser, Idaho. A private family graveside service will be held at Keithley Creek Cemetery, Midvale, Idaho following the memorial service.
