Obituary of Robert Earl Pearson

Robert Earl Pearson was born on February 9th, 1926 in Montesano, Washington. When he was 12 years old, he moved to Tacoma and was later drafted into the army to fight in World War II in 1944. He was a paratrooper in the 101st and 82nd airborne unit and was under general Eisenhower and Patton’s command to jump into the Rhine river. When he was preparing to jump into Japan, the war ended. He made a total of 11 jumps into Europe in his time in the service. When he returned home, he met and married miss Jacqueline Wikstrom in August of 1948. They bought their first home in Burien, Washington where they started their lives together. Later on, they moved to Puyallup where they raised their four children. He was a financial planner for many years which required much continual schooling, but what he enjoyed more than anything was his work with his church. He was a Sunday school superintendent for 15 years and a member of the greater Tacoma Laymen’s Christian outreach. He also loved cars, his boat, and his cabin for camping, and as he aged, Robert and his wife Jacque enjoyed their motorhome for traveling. Not to forgo mentioning, he was extremely proud and fond of listening to his wife sing, as she was a very talented opera singer and he always supported her in her singing ventures. After all of their kids were grown, and he won a battle with prostate cancer, he and his wife Jacque, after residing in Puyallup Washington for 47 years, retired in Council, Idaho, and later settled in Payette for the remainder of his years. He was a generous man, always ready and willing to give to help others, whether it be with his time or money. He was also gentle and tender of heart, often bothered by the suffering of others. Robert knew first and foremost that his loyalty not only was to his country and to his wife, but to God. His faith in God showed in not only his daily life, but also his prayer life. Both him and his wife Jacque prayed together every morning for each family member by name, and for anything that brought them concern in their personal lives. In light of fighting a blood disease for the last several years of his life, his humorous nature was still intact. He loved to play tricks and tell funny stories, or personal ones about his life. He would often start an encounter with, “I have a story” and “just one more” when his wife would encourage him to not burden others with his constant story-telling. On January 6th, 2021 at approximately 4:00am, at 94 years old, Robert changed his address to heaven. He is survived by his wife Jacque of 72 years, his four children; Renae (husband Bob), Steven (wife Lettie), Craig (wife Connie), and Deanna (husband Steve), 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and his brother Ronald. He was so loved, and will be sorely missed.  

Funeral Services will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 11:00 at the Weiser Nazarene Church with interment services at HIllcrest Cemetery with Military Honors.
