Dana Pence

Obituary of Dana Rowely Pence

Pocatello, Idaho - Dana Rowley Pence passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday September 8, 2021, in Pocatello, Idaho, from complications of the COVID-19 virus. She was 65 years old.

Dana was born May 10, 1956, in Richfield, Utah to parents J. Richard and Reah Stott Rowley. She spent her younger years in Utah and Maryland before her family moved to Boise where she graduated from Meridian High School in 1974. Following graduation, she attended Boise State University where she met and fell in love with her future husband George Pence. In July of 1976 they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for all eternity. What a blessing that was as they started their new life together. Following graduation, they were blessed with their first three children while living in Utah. A career change then brought the family back home to Idaho and Dana was so excited! In the next five years the two youngest children joined the family and gave her the sons and daughters she always wanted.

Dana had many hobbies and jobs throughout her life, but what she loved most was being a mother, wife, and grandmother. She was always happiest being surrounded by her family and doing fun activities such as boating, skiing, road trips, craft bazaars, board games, swimming with grand kids and chatting with friends and family while sipping a cold diet coke. She especially loved the holiday season and gathering of family.

One of her greatest attributes was her love of Jesus Christ and her desire to follow his teachings. She was faithful in her service in church callings including Activity Days Leader, Relief Society President, Young Women's President, Cub Scout Leader and Primary Worker. She loved the children in the Primary! Her greatest strength and source of happiness was serving and ministering to those in need, most of the time behind the scenes with no recognition. She also found great joy serving in the temple, always helping the patrons. Dana left a legacy of love, kindness and selflessness that will be remembered for generations to come.
Dana is survived by her husband, George, her five children, Tyler (Angie) Pence, Andy (Mary) Pence, Emily (Jim) Madarieta, Allyson (Tyson) Munns, Dane (Kelsey) Pence, and 19 grandchildren. She is also survived by her father J. Richard Rowley, siblings Rozalyn Clyde-Hughes, Shauna Parks and Richard S. Rowley. She was preceded in death by her mother Reah Rowley and her sister Stephanie Moore.

Her family invites all who would like to celebrate her life to join with them Thursday, September 16, 2021, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 3229 N. Bogus Basin Rd. Services will begin at 11:00 am, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30am to 10:30am.
