Obituary of Darlene Jenkins

Darlene June Jenkins, 80, of Vale, Oregon, went to be with Jesus October 8, 2021, at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho, due to complications from Parkinson’s disease and a previous stroke.

Born June 27, 1941 at Baker City, Oregon, to Vernell “Slim” and Velma (Boyer) Morin, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Gertrude “Nellie” (Morin) and Jarold Brannock, after the death of her mother.

She was raised on a ranch in Hereford, Oregon. Her father and siblings lived on the ranch next door. She graduated from Hereford High School in 1959.

Darlene married Jerry Pete Jenkins, November 15, 1959, in Hereford, Oregon. She was a homemaker who worked alongside of Jerry on ranches throughout the states of Oregon, Wyoming, Washington, New Mexico, and Nevada. At age 45 she received an Associate Degree in Business Management from Treasure Valley Community College, after which she worked in bookkeeping and tax preparation. Darlene experienced a life-altering stroke in 2005. Darlene was amazing at remembering the birthdays of family members and friends; making phone calls, sending cards and texts and making people feel loved. Darlene was involved in the Faith, Hope, & Love Assembly of God Church in Vale, Oregon, until her death.

Darlene is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Jerry, her children Jay (Wendy), Darla (Marshall), Witty, and Dianne (Ethan) Fuchs; grandchildren Allyn (Erin) Fuchs, Joseph (Liz) Witty, Jayna Witty, Joel (Kelsi) Fuchs, Seth Fuchs, McKean (Laredo) Jenkins, Tyrel Fuchs, Kelton Jenkins, Bentley Jenkins; great-grandchildren Brittney Jenkins, Piper Witty, Blakely Jenkins, Remi Witty; siblings John (Roberta) Morin and Arnie Morin; and many much-loved nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by grandson, Caleb Fuchs, and siblings Mildred Winward, Elaine Dalglish, Wayne Morin, and Ken Pearson.

Services will be held Thursday, October 14, 2021, at 2:00 pm, at Faith, Hope, & Love Assembly of God Church, 477 Oak Street, Vale, Oregon, 97918. The service will be livestreamed on https://www.facebook.com/Faith-Hope-Love-Assembly-of-God-104121401236363/live_videos.

Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends or given to Faith, Hope, & Love A/G Church. Thank you to Pioneer Assisted Living in Vale, Oregon, and St. Al’s Cardiac ICU in Boise, Idaho for their care during the last years and days of her life.

Darlene’s favorite Bible verse was, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. She was “Whosoever!”
