Obituary of Gil Armstrong

Gil L. Armstrong was called home to our Lord on Thursday, November 19, 2021.

 

Born on April 7, 1946 at their family home in Cabool, Missouri to loving parents Harlen and Laura Armstrong. The family moved to Idaho when he was nine years old. At a very young age, in the early hours of the morning and before school,  he would milk cows at a small dairy in Fruitland, Idaho. This type of discipline and work ethic was demonstrated throughout his entire life. Whether it was at work or at home , he always took pride in everything he did. He retired as a Mine Project Superintendent at the age of 65.

 

On April 29, 1966 he married the love of his life, Cynthia Sue Thompson. They were married fifty-five wonderful years and raised three children: Nancy, Tammie and Brenda.

 

Gil was a devoted and faithful family man who was loved and adored by everyone he met. His humorous stories always kept you on your toes. He loved to make you smile. His favorite pastimes included spending time with his  family and friends, camping, fishing and working in his yard.

 

Gil is survived by his loving wife, Sue Armstrong. Daughters: Nancy Madsen(husband Steve Madsen) and Brenda Lee.  Sister: Theresa Laughridge (husband Mike Laughridge).  Grandchildren: Sarah Smith (husband Jeremy Smith), Jake Madsen, Josh Madsen, Kaylee Madsen and Emily Barnes. Great- Grandchildren: Harlen and Calvin Smith.

 

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammie Sue Armstrong. Grandchild, Baby Jaden Madsen. Parents: Harlan and Laura Armstrong. Siblings: Naomi Densel, Viretta McCoy, and Lonnie Armstrong.

 

Gil Armstrong will be laid to rest on December 29, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. next to his daughter at the Dry Creek Cemetary (Gardenview Section, Block 32) located at 9600 Hill Road, Eagle, Idaho.  A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 521 West Water Grove, Eagle, Idaho.

 

He will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
