Alice Kampeter

Obituary of Alice Elaine Kampeter

Alice Elaine Kampeter passed away suddenly at her home in Garden City, Idaho on January 26, 2022.  She was born on December 16, 1950 in Council, Idaho to Bill and April Kampeter.  Alice was the youngest daughter of their two daughters.  She and sister Helen grew up on the Kampeter Ranch on Hornet Creek northwest of Council where they enjoyed horseback riding and helping their parents with whatever was needed.  Alice went to school in Council graduating in 1969 and after graduating moved to the Boise area where she was employed by Royal Optical for many years.  When they went out of business, she went to work at Quality Thermistor where she worked until her retirement.

Alice enjoyed the outdoors.  With her friend, Eddie, sister Helen and brother-in-law, Warren, and sometimes cousins Charlie and Kay, they made many trips on their ATVs.  Some in the Council area but many into Idaho’s backcountry and the Owyhee Mountains.  One of the most notable was riding thru the Magruder Corridor, from Elk City, Idaho to Darby, Montana and another was into the Buffalo Hump Wilderness in Central Idaho.  She also took several overnight horse packing trips with Helen and Warren into places like Buck Basin on Council Mountain and Rapid River near Bear, Idaho.  This was in our “younger days” when the aches took less time to go away.

Alice was a “cat person”.  She often took in stray cats and, if needed, would take them to the veterinarian to get them well.  Her home was full of cat ornaments and pictures.

Alice was thought highly of in the community where she lived in Garden City.  She was always ready to help her neighbors in any way she could, often driving them to appointments.  She will be missed.

Alice is survived by her mother, sister Helen, and husband Warren, niece Tauna, husband Brad, nieces Lanessa and Giuliana, nephew Scott, wife Kim, daughter Christa, fiancé Brandon and son Oliver.  She was preceded in death by her father.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in the spring.    Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
