Nancy Snyder

Obituary of Nancy Ann Snyder

Nancy Ann Snyder, 67, died Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise, ID from complications related to a recent stroke.

Born in Portland, OR October 18, 1954, Nancy’s early life centered around family and relatives.  Sunday afternoons at the beach (with a picnic lunch), visiting with cousins, plenty of camping…these were the pastimes.

Like most young adults, Nancy wanted her independence.  She managed somehow to make her way to Idaho and eventually fell under the care of Mike and Jenny Biggars.  Many years were spent with them and they have been such a blessing in Nancy’s life providing her space and love to be herself.

She greatly enjoyed outings of shopping and a bite to eat afterwards.  Travel was also on her map…some trips to Jackpot, NV (quite the casino fan and loved the motel experience), camping (gosh, the bugs!), and trips to the Oregon coast (the salty air and visiting the aquarium).  Nancy also had extraordinary recall memory.  She never failed to remind you of past stories and always asked about your acquaintances even if she had only met them once.  There was also quite the connection with animals that seemed to stem from her calming nature.

The things that Nancy couldn’t say or do; that didn’t define her.  The warm smile, the cute laugh (she loved a good joke), her many questions (quite curious); that was her personality.  We will all greatly miss her gentle soul and are grateful that now she is able to experience what it’s like to be genuinely free of earthly limitations.

She leaves her mother, Janet of Sublimity, OR; sister Christine (John Murtha) of McDonough, GA; brother John of Salem, OR; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Floyd “Corkey”.

Arrangements are in the care of Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser, ID with burial at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, OR.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
