Obituary of Michael Edward Nourse

Michael Edward Nourse went home to heaven on September 2, 2022, after a short but fierce battle with cancer. He passed away at home with his family by his side.

Michael was born January 26, 1950, in Boise, Idaho to Edward and Edith Nourse. He attended school at St Joseph Academy in Boise and then attended high school at Mount Angel Seminary in Mount Angel OR. He returned to Boise and earned his accounting degree and MBA at Boise State. He worked for a time in his father’s accounting firm and then found his lifelong vocation with computers. He spent 6 weeks on a solo tour of Europe, from Amsterdam to Rome. Making friends along the way, regardless of language differences.  He served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Korea where he spent his free time at a Catholic orphanage.

In 1979 he married his wife, Ceara. They moved to Washington State where he continued his computer career. He was a co-founder of a computer software company called Cosmos and helped developed a software product called Revelation. It was in Washington that their family became complete with the addition of Brooke Dyan in 1982 and John Edward in 1983. After the sale of Cosmos, the family returned to Idaho, eventually finding their way to Mesa. He loved the wide-open spaces and enjoyed tinkering and coming up with what he called his “red neck” solutions.

Michael was a man of strong convictions and lived his Catholic faith every day, sharing his joy, sense of humor and compassion with everyone he met. He was a patient teacher to his computer clients. He was always quick with a smile and a helping hand. He was a wonderful friend, mentor, loving father and husband. He received great comfort in the many notes, texts, emails, and cards that he received during his illness from many of those he had touched in his life and the family is grateful that he was able to know that he had touched so many people. Thank you to all who reached out to him.

We would like to thank St Luke’s Cancer Institute in Fruitland for their compassionate care for him and for the privilege of being able to stay in the Respite House during his treatments. Also, thanks to the new friends made on the “Cancer Bus” who helped ease the treatments regimen.

Thank you to Heart ‘n Home Hospice for their professional and loving care, especially Bambi, Cheyenne, Collin, Nick, Mary and Crystal.

We are devastated at the loss of our beloved husband and father. But he is not gone, just gone ahead. And we have his example to help lead us through this time without him here.

His funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 214 E. Liberty St., Weiser.

In lieu of flowers, we would ask consideration of a donation to Marymount Hermitage, 2150 Hermitage Lane, Mesa 83643.

Arrangements under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home.
