Obituary of Annette Van Landingham

Annette Van Landingham was born March 3, 1931 in Apple Valley, ID to William  Lynn Van Landingham and Myrtle Marie  (Morgan) Van Landingham.  Annette was the firstborn of 6 children, 3 boys, and 3 girls.  She would say she was a sickly child for the first few years of her life and lived with her Grandma Van Landingham during those years.  Annette grew up in the Apple Valley area, attending schools in Parma and Notus until her family moved to Cambridge ID in 1947.  She was very unhappy with this move because she had to change schools again, but ended up grateful as she was able to finish 2 years in one place. She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949.  Annette attended 1 year of Business School before working at a bank in Weiser.  In July 1951, Annette and Kenny Mink eloped to Winnemucca NV with their good friends Gary and Eloise Bledsoe.  Their marriage welcomed sons Russell Mink (1954) and Rebecca (Mink) Peschong (1957).

Annette was involved in numerous things: church activities, Valley View Club, bible studies, and leading youth groups, but her most important was raising her two children. Annette waitressed at Bucky's Café for several years and it is said, you always knew where she was because you could hear her laughing.

Annette was a great friend, mother, sister, Aunt, and Grandmother. She loved the ocean and playing with her grandkids in the creek at Lake Fork. Annette was an avid reader, learning to read at the age of 5, and could be found reading and doing her crossword puzzles with a cup of coffee in her hand, only after her home was cleaned and laundry was hung.

Riggins, ID was her final home where she lived with her daughter Becca and her beloved dog Jack. Annette died peacefully of natural causes at 91 years young, surrounded by her family in her grandson’s home in Meridian, ID. The body may have failed her, but her mind was sharp till the end.

Annette loved her siblings, children, and so loved all of her grandkids, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Her family that is continuing to live life to the fullest in her absence is brother Roger Van Landingham, North Bend OR, sisters  Nancy Van Landingham, Palm Springs CA, and DeLene Stringer Oppelt, Aberdeen WA, son Russell and Peggy Mink, Cambridge ID, daughter Douglas and Becca (Mink) Peschong, Riggins ID, grandchildren Justin and Jodie Mink, Cambridge ID, Drew and Kyla (Mink) Pearson, New Plymouth ID, Stephen and Nicole (Peschong) Batten, Emmette ID, Jake and Autumn (Peschong) Cameron, Riggins ID, Caleb and Amelia Peschong, Meridian Id, her great-grandchildren Jayden and Lauren Mink, Jarret Mink, Jace Mink, Paisley Pearson, Pacey Pearson, Joshua and Marissa Batten, Emery Cameron, Ella Cameron, Jeremiah Peschong, OliveMae Peschong, and her great-great-grandchildren Angel Batten and Alex Batten.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and wonderful lifelong friends, one being Carol Turnbull.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 19th at 11:00 am at 1st Baptist Church, Hwy 71 Cambridge ID.
