Obituary of Jay Border III

James "Jay" Howard Border III, age 75, of Weiser, Idaho passed away December 6, 2022, in Weiser.  
Jay was born on August 28, 1947 in Bozeman Montana, the eldest child and son of Berdena and James Howard Border II.  Jay was raised in Montana, along with his younger siblings in Bridger Canyon.  
Jay met his wife Margaret-Ann while he attended Cascade College for his undergraduate studies in psychology.  He then achieved his Master of Education degree from the University of Portland, eventually working for Youth Outreach ministering to at-risk youth in Vancouver, Tacoma, and Puyallup.
Jay and Margaret-Ann were married in 1968 and started their family within a few years with the birth of their first daughter, Jimi Anne, followed by their daughters Jodee, Jonna, and Jilene.  As a family, they loved to sail, hike, hunt, fish, camp, and spend time outdoors.  Jay especially enjoyed making a “fun” day of cutting and gathering wood with his kids.  
Jay was an Army Veteran and a true patriot, serving in the medical field at Fort Sam Houston, Texas during the Vietnam War.  He was an outstanding pilot and flight instructor, beginning as a teenager.  He continued to fly and teach aviation throughout his life, operating Border Aviation for over 30 years.  Jay had an exceptional work ethic in his personal and professional life.  He was known for his hard-work and his generosity for others in need.  He believed “anything worth doing, should be done right.” 
In 1991, Jay and his family moved to Weiser, Idaho.  Jay was a vibrant member of the community, serving as a volunteer in his Church, and over the years he helped many families.  Jay was an active leader in the Idaho Friends of NRA, teaching gun safety to the youth.  Jay’s favorite activities included spending time with his wife and girls and their families, skiing, shooting, and hunting.  His most joyous times were when all his kids and their families were home together for the holidays.  Jay’s ethics and standards were driven by his faith in Jesus Christ, and the sharing of God’s love and forgiveness for each of us (John 3:16). 
Jay is survived by his wife, Margaret-Ann; his four daughters and their husbands, Jimi Anne and Troy Meyers, Jodee and Mark Nassir, Jonna and Brandon Lawrence, Jilene and Michael Rossel; his 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons; and his sister and brother, Shirley Border Lutes and Richard Border.
