Obituary of Timothy Grim

Timothy Lee Grim – Born March 15, 1951, passed away on December 3, 2022.   A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, December 10 at 1:00 pm at Bethany Presbyterian Church 1712 West Idaho Ontario, Oregon

Tim was born in Nampa Idaho to C. Robert and Rose Marie Grim.  When he was around three years old the family moved to the lower Treasure Valley area.  After living in Fruitland for a while, the family finally settled in Ontario.

After graduating from Ontario High School, he moved on to Oregon State University graduating where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering.  While attending Oregon State, he met his future wife, Judy on a blind date.  They were married in June 1973.  Their first home was in Caldwell, Idaho where their son, Bob, joined them in December 1974.  A year later they moved back to Ontario. Daughter, Patty, completed their family in September 1976.

His Engineering work took him around northeastern Oregon, working mostly on school buildings.  Most of his engineering work in the state of Idaho was bridges, which includes annual inspections on a lot of them.

Tim was an avid bowler and golfer, which for a lot of years was enjoyed with the same group of friends.  He was on the Ontario Planning Commission for more years than can be remembered.  He was on the Board of Directors at Presbyterian Community Care Center.  He also served on the board of Session at Bethany Presbyterian Church.

Some of his happiest times were following his children to high school and college sporting events.  He carried that love over to attend his granddaughter’s sporting events.  He also enjoyed traveling.  One goal was to visit all 50 states but didn’t quite make that one.  Another goal was to walk up onto the arm of Crazy Horse, which he was finally able to do but was in a wheelchair.  He made it to several different countries, including the Panama Canal in 1999, and in 2011, he was so excited about riding the train through the “Chunnel” under the English Channel while on the way home from his trip to Israel.

Tim is survived by his wife, Judy, his son Bob and his wife Fara and daughter Patty and her husband Richard and their three beautiful granddaughters Alex, Mia, and Mandi.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ted.

Many thanks go out to Assisting Hands and  Encompass Home Health, for the support given to Tim early on in his illness.  To Sunset Estates Memory Care Facility and Signature Hospice for all of the support and love, you have given him through these past four years.
