Obituary of Mary Ann Eavenson

Mary Ann Eavenson, 65 was welcomed as Heaven's gates swung open and she entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on February 17, 2023, at home in Nyssa Oregon with family by her side. Mary Ann was born on a beautiful Easter Sunday morning, April 21, 1957, in Nyssa Oregon. She was the oldest daughter of Glade and Mary Lee Chadwick who both preceded her in entering heaven. She was raised in Nyssa and graduated from Nyssa High School in 1975. During her years in high school, she was a member of the Chess Club, played clarinet in the band, and was the Drum Major for the Nyssa Marching Band. After graduation, she attended Boise State University (BSU), where she studied Accounting and enjoyed being a Majorette for the BSU Marching Band.  She lived in Boise Idaho for a short time after attending BSU before moving back to Nyssa living on the family farm. Among other things, she worked as a receptionist at TLC Hair Design in Nyssa. She went on to Beauty College to become a hairdresser at TLC starting in January of 1990. She at that time was attending church in Parma, Idaho at the Church of the Nazarene which is where she met the love of her life, Steven Dwayne Eavenson. Their first date was to a Valentine's banquet in 1991 at their church. They were married on September 21, 1991, and made their home on the Terhune/Chadwick Family Farm in Nyssa Oregon where they raised their only child Scotlyn James Glade Eavenson. Mary Ann was a very giving and caring soul. She gave anything and everything she could to family, friends, and people that she didn’t even know. Her home was an open door to anyone in need. She had many hobbies. She was very talented and gifted in crocheting, knitting, tatting, gardening, and canning all of which she shared with many. Reading was a big hobby of hers. Christian books, Beverly Lewis, and Amish books were among her favorites. She was involved in several different organizations and clubs. Including, but not limited to, being a CASA volunteer, Boise Little Theater, Onion Skin Players, Job’s Daughters, Eastern Star, Nyssa and Adrian Sports Boosters, Bible Quiz Team Coach, Nazarene Church Missions Boards, Nazarene Women’s Group leader, Special Olympic Volunteer including volunteering at the World Special Olympic Games with her sister Jackie, held in Boise Idaho. Her and Steve really enjoyed their involvement with the Adrian Lions Club. She collected Nativity scenes and cookbooks. She enjoyed watching and feeding all birds, especially Hummingbirds at her home. She loved to decorate not just for the seasons, but for EVERY single month and she did an awesome job!

She is survived by her son Scotlyn (Katy Smit) Eavenson, Nyssa; sister Jackie (Brad) Goul Nyssa;  Albanian brother Bledi (Anjeza) Harizi of Tirana Albania; grandson Axel Gerrit Eavenson, Nyssa; granddaughter Sylvir Mari Jo Eavenson, Nyssa; Nieces Lindsey Goul, Arizona; Kristal (Ben) Elmer, Nyssa; Kristel Harizi, Tirana Albania; Ivian Harizi, Tirana Albania; nephew Sean Goul, Ontario, Oregon; numerous Uncle’s, Aunts and Cousins. The family would like to especially thank Mary Spurling (cousin) as she was so dedicated to helping Mary Ann in her last few months. (I can’t express what that meant to me as her sister!). Our thanks go out also to Canyon Home Care Hospice for their wonderful and loving care.

Take comfort and know Our Savior welcomed Mary Ann with open arms proclaiming, “Well done my good and faithful servant”.

There will be a dual Celebration of Life for Mary Ann and Steve; as they entered Heaven Nine weeks apart; to be held Saturday, March 18th, at 11:00 a.m. at Nyssa Christian Fellowship, 220 S. 5th St. Nyssa, Oregon. A private burial will be held later at Hill Top Cemetery in Nyssa.
