A Tribute to Andy Baird
By Dove Schmidt
There's a cowboy that we're missin'
Since he went to that Heavenly place,
With a heart as big as Texas
A smile was always on his face.
Andy was a husband, a friend, a Dad,
A Grandpa, and Buckeroo
A good truck driver, and a cattleman
Dogs and horses, yes, he knew...
Among some of his favorite dogs,
There was PD, Babe, and Munch,
Sparky, Ellie May, and Wy
They were part of the elite bunch
And the horses that he really loved
Included Penny, Moose, and Chink
With Buckowski near the top of the list
There was even a horse named Dink
With wild cowboyin' stories to share
And lots of bronc colts to start
Ridin' the summer range at Jackson Hole
Was the time spent from the heart
Now his horse has an empty saddle here
As he crossed the Great Divide
But I know he's got some horses there
That he's already saddled up to ride
We know he's in our future
As he knew Jesus as Lord
And Heaven is a real big Ranch
That we should all be headin' toward
So, as Andy left us early
His presence is with us still
I can hear him tellin' Debbi,
“I love you,”
“Always have, Always will.”
