Obituary of Marva Jean Quarles

Marva Jean Fulkerson Quarles, 79, of Weiser, ID passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, in Boise, ID.

Marva was born in Payette, ID Nov 3, 1943, to Gene Sevey Fulkerson and Marvin Fulkerson.

Marva was raised in Weiser, ID, and graduated from Weiser High School in 1963. She spent the following summer in Hermiston, OR living with family. This is where she met the love of her life, Paul B. Quarles. They were Wed in Weiser on Feb. 9, 1964, and made their home in Boise, ID. They welcomed their first child, Eric Paul Quarles, in May of 1967. Daughter Gina Kay Quarles (Swartz) arrived in May 1972. Marva's husband, Paul, took a position in Retail Mamagement that moved them every few years. They lived in Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah during these years, and Marva was able to be a stay at home Mother and was very involved in her children's school's volunteering for almost any and everything needed. she was a Boy Scout troop leader and a Girl Scout troop leader. She also was very involved in the LDS church, where she was often called upon to teach primary to her Ward's children. Although very busy being involved in many different aspects of her kids' lives, she still found time to attend school to pursue her dream of interior design. Although she never quite finished up her degree, one step inside any of her homes and you'd have been extremely wowed, her taste and talent were impeccable. In 1982, Paul left his retail job that moved them so often, and they opted to settle in Baker City, OR.  Not long after moving to Baker City, Marva began working for Albertsons. She climbed quickly through the ranks and was soon promoted to the Customer Service Manager/Front End Manager position. Her career spaned 22 years. She touched many lives in that 22 years,  helped shape many young men and women's lives as a boss, mentor and friend. During those years there were hardly any Baker County residents that didn't know "Marva at Albertsons" The family rarely traveled out of town without her running into someone she knew ~ even visiting Disneyland in California she bumped into a family she knew at her hotel. She was well known, loved, and respected throughout any and all communities she lived in.  She retired in 2004 after she lost her Husband, Paul, to a nearly 10 year battle with a vascular disease. She lived a quiet life enjoying her four  grandchildren, Eli, Wyatt, Jessica, and Andrew, close friends and her beloved companion dog, Tessa. In 2020, after nearly 38 years in Baker City, Marva decided to move back to Weiser to be closer to family members. Marva was diagnosed with breast cancer in May of 2022, a diagnosis she didn't share with many people. She fought hard, and by Dec. 2022 was Cancer free. However, all the treatments weakened her.  She passed peacefully in Boise, ID April 21, 2023

Marva was preceeded in death by her parents, Marvin and Gene Fulkerson, In-laws Charles and Viola Quarles, Husband Paul Quarles and twin grandchildren, Michelle and Josef Quarles.
