Juan Huerta

Obituary of Juan A. Huerta

Juan Alejandro Olvera Huerta, (Jr), 62 years old passed away peacefully at University of Michigan Health West Hospital in Wyoming, MI on November 23, 2023 surrounded by his daughter, sister, a friend, and brother on messenger video. The family has peace knowing he is rejoicing with his family in Heaven.

Juan (Jr) was born in Weiser, ID on December 13, 1960, to Juan F. and Delfina O. Huerta.

After graduation he lived in Texas, Washington. While living in Washington he played in a Mexican band. He was also a great dancer. He moved back to Weiser after being away for 15 years. He lived most of his life in Weiser, ID. He moved to Grand Rapids, MI on November 15, 2022.

Juan (Jr) served in the Army National Guard for 3 years. In his younger years Juan served as a volunteer firefighter at the Weiser Rural Fire Department with his dad and brothers. He worked at Feltham Growers for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and helping his Dad and brother with their small business fixing lawn mowers. Juan’s (Jr) passion was owning his own lawn mowing service. He enjoyed helping the elderly and would accept whatever they could afford. He called it a growing business. He was excited when he got hired at the Weiser Senior Center. Due to his disability he was forced to retire.

Bianca will always remember how he used to let her skip school to play Polly Pocket with him. His family will always remember Juan (Jr) never asked for a hand out when he was struggling; he always looked for work and did handy man jobs to get money to pay his bills and make a living for himself. He didn’t like owing anyone. He will be remembered for all the love he shared with his friends and family.

Juan (Jr) described himself as an energetic man, who is going to make his way in life. Juan wrote a letter for his 20th year class reunion booklet titled “After all these years”. We would like to share a part of what he wrote. “I, Juan Huerta, didn't expect my life to turn out the way it did. I thought I would have been more successful and luckier. Something I would never take back about the last 20 years of my life is nothing. I'm not the wealthiest man or a man who is happily married with kids, but I have had many experiences and life changes which has made me grow to become a better man. I have my family and friends and that's all the wealth I need, everything else comes in time. Now I'll be ready for whatever challenges face me. In the meantime, I'll just keep fishing and hunting, the two things that make life great for me!” Juan (Jr) did find out he had a daughter when he moved back to Weiser. He was ecstatic and shared the news with his loved ones.

Juan (Jr) is preceded in death by both of his parents, brother David Huerta and several other family members.
He is survived by his daughter Bianca Smith, brother Edward Huerta, sister Rosemarie Rhodes (Johnny), grandchildren Hayven and Harlem, nieces Rebecca, Hannah and Stephanie, Christina Huerta, nephews Steven and Isaiah Huerta, Anthony and Jeffrey (Carissa) Rhodes; and several other relatives .
