Obituary of Bobbie Jo Harrod

Bobbie Jo Harrod died Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in Ontario, Oregon. She was born June 6, 1966 in Paragould, Arkansas to Charles and Ann Burgess. She joined older siblings, Charles and Terrie.

Bobbie's family moved to Ontario, Oregon in 1970 where she attended Cairo Elementary, Ontario Junior High, and Ontario High School, graduating in 1984.

Following graduation, Bobbie married Duane Cowperthwait. Together, they lived the Army life in Colorado and Germany. They had 2 children: Charles and Kayann. They later divorced.

Bobbie attended TVCC in Ontario and earned her Associates Degree from there.

She married Robert Harrod and they later divorced.

Bobbie was active in the local Alcoholics Anonymous groups. She had an amazing 26 years of sobriety at the time of her death. She lived and practiced the program and helped many others do the same.

A loving mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Bobbie will be missed by many. She is survived by her son, Charles Cowperthwait (Faunya), of Payette, Idaho; Kayann Cowperthwait, Ontario, Oregon; and her bonus daughter, Ashley Benson, Ontario, sister, Terrie(Steve), of Palouse, Washington.  Bobbie has six beloved grandchildren: Lucien, Loki, MacKenzie, Matthew, Janet, and James.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charlie.

Bobbie's request was to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at the VFW Hall, 25 NW 8th St., in Ontario on January 27, 2024. Service will be at 11:00 AM and followed by a potluck luncheon for her family and friends to gather and remember Bobbie.
