Obituary of Margaret Louise Taylor

Margaret L. Taylor   August 23, 1926 – January 28, 2024

Margaret Louise Taylor, 97, of Ontario, Oregon, passed away January 28^th from natural causes at Edgewood Spring Creek, Fruitland, Idaho.  Margaret was born August 23, 1926, in Boise, Idaho, to Fred and Gertrude Rosti. She had 2 brothers, Earl and Jim.  She graduated from Meridian High School and later worked as a secretary and bookkeeper.  On May 29, 1948, she married Norman Taylor.  Shortly after they moved to Ontario where they were married 49 years until Norm’s death in 1997.  She was always active in part-time bookkeeping for the family business, as well as raising their 3 children, Mike, Carolyn, and Gary.

Margaret was well known for her passion for gardening and growing flowers.  She was always happiest when out digging in the dirt, hoeing weeds, mowing, and tending to her beautiful garden and flowers.  She was a long-time member of the Garden Club and Night Owls, Oregon Extension Service.  She enjoyed sewing, decorating, being a 4-H leader, being involved in cub scouts, painting ceramics, going to the beach, and more recently, volunteering in the gift shop at Ontario’s St. Alphonsus Hospital.  She was an ardent fan of the Boise Bronco football team and rarely missed watching or listening to a game.

After Norm’s death, Margaret decided it was time to travel.  And travel she did.  She made numerous new friends and travel buddies in her trips to all corners of the US, Europe, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. For many years she traveled with a group to Ashland, Oregon to see plays.  After being satisfied with enough travel, she continued to concentrate on her garden, and being a part of her 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren’s lives.  On July 28^th, 2018, she married her final companion, Ralph Cammack, and spent the next 4 years at home until his passing in November 2022.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Earl Rosti and Jim Rosti, husbands Norman Taylor and Ralph Cammack, and grandson Spencer Taylor.

Margaret is survived by her children, Michael (Jeri), Carolyn Wikegard (Herje), Gary (Elaine), grandchildren Jeanette (Jason), Brett (Megan), Annsofie (Todd), Marcus, Haliegh, Destiny, and great grandchildren Madison, Mason, and Aurora, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She will be remembered for the joy, enthusiasm, and zest for life that she shared; her boundless love of family and friends, and her eagerness to help others.

On February 6^th, 2024, a private interment will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery at 10:30 am.

At 11:30am, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Ontario Community Church, 240 SE 3^rd Street, Ontario, Oregon 97914.  Following at 12:30 will be a lunch at the church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Daniel Iwasa for his many years of friendship, special and generous care given by Dr. Dan and his staff, and Benny Seiders and his crew for keeping Mom’s yard looking beautiful.  We also want to thank Edgewood Assisted Living staff including the special care by Jeanie and the All Care Hospice team.
