Obituary of Karla J. Palmer

Karla Jean Palmer, 78 of Ontario formerly of the Nyssa/Adrian area passed away Feb. 16, 2024, in a Payette care facility.  Funeral Services will be held graveside at Owyhee Cemetery 848 Owyhee Avenue Nyssa, Or.  Friday March 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., under the care of Lienkaemper Funeral Services.

Karla was born Nov. 16, 1945, in Twin Falls, Idaho.  She was one of three children born to Leota Marjorie Kriegh (Stewart) and Richard Laverne Kriegh of Buhl Idaho.  Following the passing of her older brother Raymond Lynn Kriegh the family moved to a farm in Adrian Or. where a few years later her younger brother Stephen Laverne Kriegh was born.  Karla attended school and graduated as valedictorian from Adrian High School in 1963, She was active in cheerleading, Pep club, FHA, and held several class officer titles.  She served as the Adrian FFA Chapter Sweetheart and was voted the 1962-1963 homecoming princess. Following high school Karla attended Treasure Valley Community College, where she received her associate degree.  After college Karla worked a few years at a local Nyssa Bank until she found her long term career working for the Owyhee Irrigation District (North Board) in Nyssa where she later retired. 

Karla married Glenn Elton Palmer in 1969 at her parents' home in Adrian.  Together they built a nice home for themselves in Adrian.  They both enjoyed collecting antiques of various natures and Glenn enjoyed woodworking.  They filled their home with their antique collections and handmade furniture made from Glenn.  They enjoyed spending time with family camping, picnicking and water skiing. 

Karla and Glenn moved to Ontario in 2005. Shortly thereafter Glenn passed Feb. 16, 2007.  Karla occupied her time participating in sewing groups with her friends.  She worked part time with local fabric shops in Nyssa.  She was known for making beautiful quilts, blankets, and various clothing for her doll collection from different eras.  She loved helping and sharing her sewing creativity and knowledge with local seamstress’s.  She was part of different doll clubs and enjoyed attending various shows looking for that one special doll to add to her collection. She was very fond of miniature doll houses and creating them. Karla was handy with a paintbrush. Tole painting was her passion.  You can find pieces of her art dispersed throughout friends and family’s homes.  Karla held a timeshare in McCall, Id. Every year Karla and her friends looked forward to their girl’s trip where they spent time in the shops, sewing and connecting with each other. 

Karla was preceded in death by her mother Leota; father Richard; older brother Raymond; spouse Glenn; stepson Patrick; grandson Glenn Jay; and multiple family members.  She is survived by her younger bother Stephen and Debbie Kriegh of Adrian; stepson Gary and Margaret of Meridian; stepson Dennis of Boise; niece Dani Jo and Harley Wilson of Ontario; nephew Jordan and Magda Kriegh of Fruitland; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; 3 great nieces and 3 great nephews.
